Building Team update 1/26/13

Following well-attended information meetings on January 3rd and 6th, the congregation voted on January 13, 2013, to move ahead on three important issues related to our building program. By a vote of 188-0, members approved the sale of our current building to Anchor Covenant Church. By another unanimous vote of 186-0, approval was given to our plan to finance the construction through: building appeal money, proceeds from the sale of the building, and a loan from the Mission Investment Fund of the ELCA. Approval for the design of the new building was accomplished by a vote of 186-1. We are thrilled at the overwhelming support of the congregation as we move forward. The Building Team and the Finance team have done outstanding work, and have gained the trust of our members.

We now have signed contract to purchase our building, with a deposit being put in escrow by Anchor. That congregation is excited about the plans God has for ministry in this building. At this time, it looks as though they may begin worshiping at Immanuel on Saturday or Sunday evenings sometime after Easter. We will host a welcome celebration when that date is known.

The Building Team is now looking at more of the details regarding fixtures and furnishings for the new building. If you have questions or suggestions, contact Pete Juergens. We are still aiming for a ground breaking in April or May, with construction to be completed within six months.

Many thanks to all who continue to make regular contributions to the GRACE OVERFLOWING building appeal. We currently have $557,145.00 in the fund.
