Hear Special Music Here

Music is a vital ministry that belongs to ALL the people of God! Music has enormous power to engage the emotions, unify the Body of Christ, be a source of spiritual renewal, and engage worshipers into the comforting arms of the Father! It has the wondrous capacity to excite, console, cheer, tug at the heartstrings, and simply take our breath away! What a marvelous gift from our Creator God, whose entire creation sings, shouts, plays and claps his praise! When different voices, different instruments, and different parts are blended to offer a single, living, and unified work of beauty—it expresses the church’s unity in the Body of Christ. Whatever our stylistic preferences, quality music is able to inspire and motivate. A rich variety of music that is in harmony with the ministry of God’s word is a significant part of the life of Immanuel. Such diversity is welcomed and celebrated—from classical hymnody to Christian rock, from European cantatas to South African choruses—it reflects the diversity and richness of God’s creation. Immanuel seeks to connect generations, bolster cheerful hearts, uplift the heartbroken, and engage the unbeliever each and every week. We believe that vibrant, lively, varied, and engaging music is a huge boon that significantly strengthens the Word and enables believers to respond to God in heartfelt, genuine thankfulness, as well as in prayer and intercession.

DSC04623Jubilate Choir

Jubilate is Immanuel’s choir intended for ALL singers, regardless of musical training, who work through a variety of music spanning both traditional and contemporary anthems.  The choral ensemble sings anthems to God monthly, often highlighting the liturgical calendar.  Rehearsals are open to ALL and occur Wednesday nights at 6:45PM. Join us on Wednesdays for fellowship, music, and fun. We have a great core group that would love to welcome more voices to the team!

DSC01489Praise Team

Praise Team members vibrantly lead contemporary worship songs each week, help lead special services throughout the year, and represent Immanuel in the community. Weekly rehearsals are Wednesday nights at 8:00PM.

The Praise Team involves vocalists, instrumentalists, and audiovisual personnel—all of whom have servants’ hearts. These special people perform at the 9:45 and 11:07 Sunday services. Immanuel is an all-inclusive church, but we ask that Praise Team members attend rehearsals regularly.

Youth Praise Team

Immanuel’s Youth Praise Team provides teens in 6th through 12th grade with a way to connect with God through fresh, dynamic worship music. Members of the group gain vital experience in church leadership and are offered a venue to cultivate their growing musical talents.  ALL teens are encouraged to join this progressive ministry in learning vibrant new Christian music intended to inspire our next generation!

The YPT team rehearses Wednesday evenings at 5:30PM in the sanctuary. The team sings and plays as often as its members’ busy schedules allow.

bellsBells of Immanuel

Immanuel’s celebrated handbell choir rings recognizable church music, including traditional repertoire, classical sacred literature, and more recent compositions. Members in the bell ensemble are responsible for particular notes, sounding his or her assigned bells whenever that note appears in the music and creating melodies and harmony when collectively played. No musical training is necessary. The Bells of Immanuel rehearse on Sundays from 9:15-10:15AM downstairs in the music room.  If you can’t commit to every Sunday, talk to director Ellen Hanson about being a bell substitute ringer! Contact Ellen at ellen.hanson@aurora.org if you are interested or just show up for rehearsal.  She will show you how to ring and which part to read.

DSC_0209aMedia Specialists

The media team utilizes modern technology to balance the tension between authentic worship and production. They play a vital role in helping the church continue to reach the next generations and in maintaining a family-friendly environment. Positions include controlling the computer, managing the sound board, and operating live video during worship. The team is currently training new people and would love some extra help!

DSC05805Cantatas/Musical

The entire music department combines semiannually and presents a Christmas and Easter cantata that highlights the festive seasons. The glorious musical celebration starts with months of rehearsals that culminate in a brilliant, grandiose presentation by a large combined choir with orchestral accompaniment and speaking narration parts. The inspirational music comprises a variety of music, both traditional and contemporary, which unites all generations through powerful song. All are invited to join this diverse ministry, perfect for the entire family.
